Expect to hear a lot more of these stories. Then expect sanctimonious marshmallow man Jason Kenney carefully tow the line between condemnation and “religious freedom”. Glad our tax dollars are funding this inaccurate, racist bullshit.
Also, if you have the stomach and are extremely fact-averse, do browse through the Facebook page of Red Deer & Area Pro Life. You’ll find lovely abortion memes like, “If a fetus is not a baby then why abort it? Why not just leave the clump of cells alone?” Christ.

Looking like every suburban dad who gets drunk and angry at his kid’s hockey game, Lorne Gunter has an important message: climate change isn’t real and the NDP want to “muzzle” anyone who disagrees.
In his latest garbage post for the Edmonton Sun/Journal, Gunter helpfully links his dear readers to such reputably truthful sites like Breitbart News and everyone’s favourite sun-blaming billboard enthusiasts: Friends of Science Calgary.
Let’s be clear what Gunter and, by extension, PostMedia are doing here. They’re not stupid enough to doubt what almost all the scientific community is warning us about. What they’re doing is sowing doubt, misinformation and mistrust in our government to advance their agenda.
And what is that agenda, you might be wondering? I honestly have no fucking clue. I suspect someone like Gunter doesn’t deal well with change (i.e. having actual females make decision about our economy), and truly, if there’s a business model that’s shown itself effective since the black Kenyan Muslim was elected president, it’s in stoking fear, bias, racism, rage and misinformation.
Gunter, do you want to go back to the time when old, white oilmen ran our province? Honestly, what is your fucking endgame? You know, we can still protect our extremely fragile environment at same time you go to weird coke parties with two-bit players in Alberta’s oil industry. WE CAN HAVE THEM BOTH LORNE!

Hey, looks like the wonderful folks at Weird Canada are back to updating their website! From Calgary’s Aleem Khan, some weirdo free-jazz soul. Put a beat over this and it sounds like goddamn Kenny Dixon Jr.

From an upcoming Mint Records comp, here’s Edmonton’s Jess Jalbert doing Godley and Creme’s “Cry”. Recorded by that virtuosic scamp Renny Wilson.

UPDATE: Holy shit, does Jason Kenney have absolutely no tact or sense of honour or decorum? An MLA on that list is now complaining the Kenney campaign misused her name. She did not endorse him, yet, well, there’s her name on fundraising emails.
For some reason, senior citizen-whisperer Jason Kenney is touting 50 new endorsements from old PC MLAs and cabinet ministers.
In standard PC fashion, only six of the endorsements are from women. What’s interesting, however, are those missing from the list, including THREE former premiers (Stelmach, Redford, Hancock) and Alberta’s first Métis woman elected to public office, Pearl Calahasen.
A couple other standouts include:
- Alberta Agenda author and noted foe of same-sex marriage Dr. Frederick Lee Morton
- Bill C-51 fan Ron Liepert
- Jonathan Penis
Lots more to be said on this by my man Climenhaga.
If you needed any indication of just how bad Kenney wants to turn the clock back to the glory days old white men with lots of oil money, this is it.
UPDATE: Well, Sandra Jansen now needs a security detail because of all the death threats.
When Don Braid and the Calgary Herald are on your side, you must be doing something right.
In an unprecedented move, new NDP MLA Sandra Jansen used her Member’s Statement to lay bare all the terrible, awful shit (mostly) men have said about her on social media. It seems a percentage of weak, insecure men can’t stand the thought of a female as their political representative.
This is all extremely tough to hear, but absolutely necessary. I wonder how former PC MLA and rank victim-blamer Janice Sarich feels now. Going by her Twitter feed, she seems to have inexplicably fell silent. You don’t say…
So, my question to unscrupulous glob of uncooked pizza dough Jason Kenney is this: are you going to accept these tactics and allow your followers to continue to harass your opponents with vile sexist and violent attacks? Or are you going to do the human thing and denounce it all? I wish I was confident you’ll do the right thing, but as we’ve seen, you’ll do pretty much anything to win.
On online abuse towards women of power: “Boys will be boys”.
Former PC MLA Janice Sarich reigned as MLA for Edmonton-Decore from 2008 until 2015. She recently told the CBC that, hey Sandra Jansen, you need to have thick skin and take all the abuse. Also, the OTHER woman said she wasn’t harassed, so Jansen must not have what it takes to cut it.
This is a very dangerous, outdated and ignorant view of abuse, online or otherwise. Lorne Gunther, spokesperson for the old, white and aggrieved, offered a very similar take. Politics is “nasty business” he says. Hey Lorne, have YOU and your family ever been threatened with rape and murder?
The NDP have more women in power than the PCs ever had. I wonder why ALL OF A SUDDEN these female elected officials are now having to deal with rape and death threats.
Sarich, I don’t think you have any idea what it’s like to be on the receiving end of awful, hateful online abuse because you were part of the ruling class. For you to tell Jansen that you just have to deal with it might be the most illuminating insight into the psyche of the female “progressive conservative”.
She may as well have said, “boys will be boys.” This is truly disgusting. I suggest Sarich spend, like, five minutes on any comments section from Rebel Media and see if she still thinks women should just put up with all this shit.
